Steven Brian is optimistic about a new program at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport.

Brian, the executive director of Glynn County Airport Commission, says that Delta has agreed to offer Brunswick customers frequent flyer sale fares. The program provides an opportunity for travelers to fly to Atlanta for $59 each way plus taxes over a weekend.

"This is a great deal, considering the price of gas. The sale reminds customers of the convenient service in and out of Brunswick," Brian said. "We hope Delta will maintain this program indefinitely as it helps both our customers and Delta by selling more seats here in the Golden Isles."

In addition to making weekend travel easier, Brian hopes the program will add to the ridership increase the airport experienced this year. He says that ridership was up 20.8 percent in June and 30.2 percent in July over the same time last year.

"Considering economic conditions, this is a great testimonial that the Brunswick Golden Isles market is strong even in hard times," Brian said. "We need to keep our numbers as high as possible. With today's record high fuel prices, airlines are scrutinizing any weak markets in terms of their profitability."
